signed on transfer deadline day January 2008. That was the day after Gary McAllister took over from Dennis Wise as manager. He was pleased as his family are Leeds United supporters.
McAllister made it clear to Anthony that he was not in his plans for the 2008-09 season. Crewe Alexandra renewed there interest in him in the summer but Elding turned them down saying that he preferred to stay and fight for his place. There was general agreement among Leeds fans that he had not been given a chance.
On July 10 2008 McAllister referred to the fact that there was still outside interest in Elding.
