Leeds United have been drawn away in the second round of the Carling Cup to Rotherham United. The match is scheduled for either 20th or 21st. of October at Millmoor.
Last season Rotherham beat United 1-0 at Millmoor in the Coca-Cola Championship on a cold November night; a game that was televised live on Sky and in which Clarke Carlisle memorably struck the woodwork three times in the first 13 minutes before being injured and taken off.
Carlisle has moved on to Watford and Rotherham were relegated to League One and their inspirational manager Ronnie Moore has also moved on. (He moved to Oldham who Leeds coincidentally beat 2-0 in the last round!) Moore was replaced by Mick Hartford who has got things moving again at Millmoor (they are now 7th in League 1) and the Millers will certainly be up for taking the scalp of Blackwell's charges if they dare to show disrespect for the South Yorkshire club. Ken Bates will want the chance of a lucrative third round draw against Premiership opposition, so there is little chance the players will not be made aware of the Chairman's expectations for the tie!
