Surplus Leeds United striker Michael Ricketts has joined our Coca-Cola Championship rivals Burnley on loan until the end of the 2005-06 season.
Leeds are keen to loan-out Michael as he is one of the highest paid players at the club; otherwise a return to Turf Moor for former Burnley player, Ian Moore, would have seemed more likely. A contribution to Rickett's wages should not be beyond the Lancashire club as they have just sold Ade Akynbyi to Sheffield United for a cool £1.75 million!
Michael endured an unhappy and goaless first season for Leeds United and found himself well down the pecking order after the signings of David Healy, Rob Hulse, Richard Cresswell and Robbie Blake.
Nevertheless, Ricketts came back over a stone lighter after the close season and went out on a successful loan to Cardiff City scoring five goals in 17 games. Sadly, although he was wanted permanently by the Cardiff manager, Dave Jones, Cardiff City are run by Peter Ridsdale and so it all turned out to be just another dream!
