Dennis Wise has made a surprise choice as his replacement assistant at Leeds United. He has stepped back to the start of his playing career to bring in his former Wimbledon boss Dave 'Arry Bassett to replace Gus Poyet until the end of the season.
Dave Bassett is now 63 and has a wealth of lower division football management experience to draw upon; nearly 1000 games as a manager! [article continues below]
He has also managed Crystal Palace (for just four days), Watford, local Leeds United rivals Sheffield United (for eight years), current League One rivals Nottingham Forest, Barnsley, Leicester City and was last in charge at a club just under two years ago when he temporarily managed Southampton for three games. Despite his later travels he was never more successful than in his first job at Wimbledon (now MK Dons).
It is not the first time Wise has called upon Dave Bassett to give him support, he did so three years ago at Millwall.
