Leeds fans will not be surprised to learn that their erstwhile winger Harry Kewell
has had his Liverpool future put in doubt by continuing injury. Kewell seems to be fit just for Liverpool's European Cup Finals and Australian World Cup matches - otherwise he slumps back into injury. Kewell has discovered that will have to forget spending time on suing BBC anchormen, and acquiring ever more ludicrous hair-dos and tatoos and actually get fit before Rafa Benitez will begin talks on a new contract.
Kewell's present contract expires this summer and his Scouse gravy boat seems to heading for the rocks at high speed. Kewell was injured in the World Cup and made made just three appearances last season.
Kewell famously dragged out contract talks during his final season at Leeds United, then announced that he would only move to Liverpool, being a fan of the club, despite a £15 million bid being made for him by Man Utd. Liverpool took advantage of the situation and refused to offer more than £5 million for the talented winger - 60% of which disppeared in the pockets of Kewell's Australian agent - who it later transpired wasn't licensed to be an agent and was a mere rep for someone with an agent's licence! More
It all left a bad taste in the mouth of all Leeds fans and most will be pleased to find the good ship Kewell foundering on the rocks without a lifeboat in sight. If any player deserved the misfortune heaped upon him it is one Harry Kewell.
A certain Mr Gary Lineker will no doubt be having a chuckle too.
