Leeds United manager Dennis Wise has been named the Coca-Cola League One manager of the month for September ahead of Leyton Orient's Martin Ling, Nottingham Forest's Colin Calderwood and Southend United's Steve Tilson.
Wise won his second and consecutive title because Leeds won four and drew one of their five matches during September.
Dennis won the August award for United's winning start to the 2007-08 campaign. United won all three of their August League One games, ironically managers of two of those defeated sides were up for the award in September, which provides further proof of just how strong the start to the season has been by Dennis' Leeds United squad.
Dennis dismissed the previous award by saying, "I'd rather have the fifteen points."
This time he thanked everyone, magnanimously saying,
"We're all a group. It's not just staff, players and fans. Everyone involved with this club - we're all in this together."
Former Leeds United player Chris Kamara, who is the chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month awards panel, said,
"Leeds United have been the form team in The Football League in the first two months of the season.
"Dennis Wise has developed a tremendous character and team spirit at Elland Road which was there for all to see in the way his side battled to earn a draw at Gillingham, despite playing much of the second half with only nine men.
"To have already climbed out of the relegation places given their points deduction is a tremendous achievement and a tribute to how well Leeds have been playing."
