Former Leeds United captain Dominic Matteo has been made temporary captain of his latest club Stoke City. He told www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk:
"It is always an honour to captain a club, and I know this club has a great footballing tradition.
"I am not saying I am captain of the club or anything like that, but I am just happy to fill in for the time being ... while I am doing it, I will give it my best shot.
"I was captain of Leeds for a few years so it is something I have done before, but it won't really alter my game because I talk and moan at everyone anyway."
Dominic transferred to Blackburn Rovers upon our relegation to the Championship. Like Alan Smith he waived his rights to any share of the transfer fee to try to help Leeds United financially.
