Dennis Wise is expected to approach Blackpool FC today for permission to speak to Shaun Barker. The defender was Blackpool's player of the season last season when they won promotion to the Championship.
Barker, who was relegated with Rotherham two seasons ago, has said publicly how pleased he is to be back in the Championship and it is thought that Dennis Wise has an uphill task on his hands to persuade the player to join him at Leeds United.
Simon Grayson, the Blackpool manager is keen for Barker to stay and the Blackpool board of directors will be worried about a fans backlash if they sell their player of the year (as Leeds United did with Rio Ferdinand and Alan Smith).
