The Sunday Express have regurgitated an old story, with no foundation, about former Hull City owner and Leeds United director Adam Pearson wanting to install Paul Jewell as manager if he is successful with a takeover bid for Leeds.
Really?
Well, this is the worst kind of shoddy, column-filling journalism; an article that contains not a single fact or quote in support of the attention-grabbing headline. Moreover, as it originates from one of the national newspapers it has be re-posted, as fact, by several franchise websites that fill their pages with
second-hand news without adding any comment, facts or doing any research of their own. But it gets even worse - the story is not just tired, old, unfounded conjecture - it is impossible!
I'll type that again, in bold this time so that even lazy sub-editors and fiction-writing sports "journalists" can read and understand it. It is impossible for Adam Pearson to buy Leeds United 20
07 Ltd and install Paul Jewell as manager.
If you are seeing stories that he will do so then you really should be more circumspect when choosing the websites that you read - after all, if you go on a forum and quote them then you will look as big a fool as the ones who write, or copy, the erroneous stories.
For Leeds United fans out there who are delighted with the start our club has made,
and consider the thought of more corporate and managerial machinations about as welcome as a turd in a swimming pool, you can relax and ignore the Sunday Express fiction and the websites that have re-published it. Why? Because the sale agreement between KPMG and Leeds United 2007 contains a provision that prevents Ken Bates re-selling the club before 30 June 2008. It is effectively a no-take-over clause that was inserted by KPMG to prevent their reputation, already described as 'shambolic' because of their handling of the administration, descending to that of 'ludicrous' by a quick sale at a large profit by the 'new' owners. That would have led to a huge outcry by the shafted small creditors, the self-publicist trio of Leeds MPs who allegedly support Leeds United, and of course the HMRC who need to collect as much money as possible to keep the illegal war in Iraq and Afghanistan going.
Logically, if Pearson cannot buy Leeds United then there can be no story about who he would or would not appoint as manager! So Leeds fans, relax - the Express Group - and their copyists -
are just having a bad journalism day.
Let's get back to enjoying our superb start to the season under Wisey and not let any lazy hacks spread dissent in the united ranks of Leeds supporters who were superb yesterday at the City Ground.
