Silly bid for Delph

Jan-29-2009 By admin

The Mirror says Fulham have lodged a £2.5m bid for teenage Leeds United midfielder Fabian Delph.

It is difficult to give any credibility to such a ludicrous story.

Leeds United value the player at more than three times that figure and the story must have the management at Fulham squirming with embarrassment at the paltry sum with which they have been linked – particularly after offloading, high-earner, Jimmy Bullard to Hull City for over £6m just a few days ago.

Given that Leeds have said Delph is not for sale and the reported interest of several high-profile premiership clubs one has to conclude that this story is just too silly to be true or that Fulham are just a bunch of chancers.

Striker Leaves Leeds United

Jan-29-2009 By Autolycus

Striker Malcolm Christie has left Leeds United.

The 29-year-old has been registered at Elland Road since October when he impressed former Leeds manager Gary McAllister while training with the Leeds squad to get himself fit after a long lay-off through injury.

The former Middlesbrough and Derby County striker made his Leeds United debut against Northampton in the FA Cup in November, playing on a non-contract basis.

He made five appearances for Leeds United, scoring just one goal in the 3-1 win over Stockport County.

With Tresor Kandol returning to Elland Road from his loan to Millwall FC and Beckford back to fitness the new Leeds manager Simon Grayson now has a surplus of strikers.

Tresor returns

Tresor Kandol returns to Elland Road today despite the attempts of Millwall FC to extend his loan. Tresor has scored eight times in just nineteen appearances for the Lions.

It is that strike rate that has meant that Leeds United are unwilling to leave the striker at the New Den given Millwall’s present position two places above United in League One and in a play-off place.

The release of Malcolm Christie today, by Leeds United also hints strongly that new Leeds manager Simon Grayson wants to take a look at the twenty-seven year-old in a white shirt before making any short or long term decisions about his future. Given Beckford’s recurring injuries this season Grayson needs back-up and Tresor already  knows the ropes at Elland Road.
