Hull City’s Windass heading to Elland Road

Jul-21-2008 By Chris Hudson

Hull City’s play-off hero Dean Windass is a being targeted by Gary McAllister according to Fleet Street.

Former Bradford City player Windass scored Hull City’s play-off winner at Wembley in May, but the 39-year old wants first team football at this stage of his career and though it would be tempting to retire after playing in the Premier League an active campaign at Leeds may be a preferred choice.

Comments made by Hull-born Windass about Leeds United shortly before the end of the 2006-07 season may prevent him becoming a Leeds fans’ favourite.

Also it was his goal on 28 April 2007, the penultimate Saturday of the 2006-07 season, in the away win at Cardiff City, that left Hull City three points ahead of Leeds United, with a vastly superior goal difference, and certain of Championship survival. Leeds United went into administration the following week.

However, Leeds fans took to Vinnie Jones and Windass is a similarly controversial player, once being sent off three times in a game for Aberdeen (and receiving a six game ban), as well as grabbing another opponent’s testicles while at Bradford City, but on the other hand he is also Bradford City’s third highest scorer of all-time.

Like Vinnie Jones, Windass has had to work on a building site during a career low.

Dean Winass was voted as the eighth best player in the Football League during the 2007-08 campaign.

Hull City would want a fee for Windass, for whom they paid Braford City £150,000.

Deano hates Leeds just as much as any self respecting City fan, or football fan for that matter. He wants to end his career with City in the Premier League and with 2 years left to run on his current deal Leeds fans have got to be having a laugh. Joke on you I am afraid boys!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. The funniest thing I have heard yet- why would a city legend want to join your lot.

I think Fleet street are daft if they think this will get off the ground!
