Leeds United manager, Simon Grayson is reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post to be in negotiations with Sunderland manager Steve Bruce over the future of George McCartney.

Sunderland left-back McCartney made 18 consecutive starts for the Whites on loan from the Mackems and Grayson is understood to be trying to negotiate a further loan deal that will see him return to the Whites until the end of the season.

The Northern Irish defender, who has also starred in the Premier League for West Ham, is seen as one of the few successes in a shaky Leeds defence that at times has seemed to have a comedic rather than a footballing value in Championship matches.

The Sunderland manager’s own son, Alex Bruce has been involved in more than one defensive clamity with Kasper Schmeichel this season, so maybe Simon Grayson is hoping that Steve Bruce feels he owes us one!

Although McCartney cannot be signed in time for the Middlesbrough FC game it is hoped McCartney will be available to line up in the top-of-the-table clash against Cardiff when Leeds United seek revenge for the televised mauling they received at Elland Road.

Grayson is blessed with a relatively large squad and so McCartney’s replacement for the Middlesbrough match won’t be a problem with Andy Hughes or Ben Parker in the frame.

  2. Hi,
Anyone know of a website where I can view Leeds Utd matches live in Portugal,I believe its possible in nearby Spain. I already subscribe to LUTV and recieve audio commentary of the matches and video highlights, but would dearly like to subscribe to live action as an alternative to Elland Road on Saturday afternoon
