Nemeth nonsense

The Sun is claiming that 19 year-old, Liverpool FC reserve striker Krisztian Nemeth has rejected the chance to join Leeds on loan.

The Sun claims that Nemeth’s agent Tibor Pataky said, “The Leeds link is not the next step for sure.”

Prompted by the former association between McAllister and Liverpool, the article gives no evidence an actual Leeds United approach to Liverpool that prompted the question; so presumably the agent quote is a direct response to a Sun journo’s planted question – see “How to make news from nothing – part 1″.

A move for an Anfield bit-part player makes no sense whatsoever with the strikers already lined up by McAllister for next season. The imminent signing of Luciano Becchio is the current news on the Leeds United striker front, not this made-up nonsense.

  1. Utter crap – I’ve seen the Sun story repeated without question on so many cookie-cutter football sites.

I agree with you Chris – there is no reason Leeds Utd would want a Liverpool reserve with so many to choose from already.

Macca has a limited budget and Nemeth makes no sense.

  2. Nemeth would be a wonderful addition for us if he wants to come. He is a very good player and showed good form for the Liverpool reserves. However, it makes no sense if he chooses to go on loan, not when he has already impressed Rafa Benitez. The possiblity of breaking into first team this season is very real for him. Thus choosing between playing for us and a Premier League side, I really don’t blame him and I certainly do not feel insulted by his snub given our predicament over the past few years.
