Stockport County game succumbs to police pressure
The kick-off time for the Leeds United away trip to Stockport County on Sunday, December 28th has been brought forward on Gefusspo advice.
The scheduled kick-off of 3pm is now a 12 noon kick-off.
This is the sixth kick-off change for an away match for Leeds in 2008-09.
The other weaklings who have changed the kick-off times due to local police admitting they are unable to police a football match are:
Scunthorpe United (a relegated club, wow!), Yeovil Town (no surprise there from the scaredest fans in the league!), Carlisle United (arse-end of Cumbria), Peterborough United (lousy pubs, not missing owt there either) and Huddersfield Town (West Yorkshire police embarrass both teams with their admission).
Presumably at some point the Football League will step in to say that the repeated attempts to prevent Leeds United fans from attending away games is actually against the spirit of the League rules and will not be tolerated without a specific reason being given for the sudden extraordinary circumstances causing a change in kick-off time.
The fact that police feel unable to do the job that they are amply overpaid to do, is clearly not one of them.
We await the seventh change with baited breath and, actually, total disinterest, as we wouldn’t cross the road to piss on these clubs if they were on fire, let alone spend any money watching their wretched teams. Don’t want me, don’t want my money…

You do realise its due to Leed’s history with Manchester United that your game with Stockport has been moved. Once the police get involved neither the clubs involved or the Football League have any say…
This is just the kind of article that gets us the name we have as a load of Sh*t, why oh why does somebody with the power of the keyboard decide to write such an article and abuse that power
“John” - so this means becos Leeds fans hate Man Utd we can’t ever attend a football match in Lancashire at 3pm? Where is the proof from the Police that there would be trouble at Stockport. Because it is over the Xmas holidays and they assume we’ll all be drunk by 3pm I presume is their excuse?
I think many clubs are doing this in collusion with the police. It is easier on the police if the game is held at 12pm rather than 3pm and the home team knows Leeds will have less fans behind them than if it is played at 3pm.
The vocal support of the Leeds fans is important - look at Carlisle Utd in the play-off semi-final refusing to sell us more than the bare minimum they had to do even though there were 2500 empty seats at the game and their fans were saying it would be a sell-out.
It suits both police and opponents to do this and they are milking it for their advantage.
“Jon Newman Said, - This is just the kind of article that gets us the name we have as a load of Sh*t, why oh why does somebody with the power of the keyboard decide to write such an article and abuse that power”
What the f*** are you bleating about? You should be pleased someone is standing up for your rights or are you happy in a football police state?
If you disagree with this “abuse” so much why don’t you get off your arse and create a website supporting these changes and see how many Leeds fans bother to visit?
Or is it easier leaving pathetic one-liners on websites about other people’s hard work? Lazy, dumb motherf**ker.
If you want other people to love Leeds fans your wasting your time - they hate us - accept it or support another club - but don’t attack other Leeds fans who are standing up for rights of the club and its fans.
Hah! well said KT - “John Newman” - I smell an undercover copper! Or maybe he really is a pratt?
Ooooph! That a big club attitude I see there? we wouldn’t piss on these clubs if they were on fire, disinterested. Well you may yearn for the Man Utd game of yesteryear but you’re not going to get it soon. so you’ll have to make do with the Stockport match as your closest alternative.
You’re a Division 3 club currently regardless of history - that is fact.
Do you think our fans want an early kick off time near Xmas - no we don’t and have we got a choice in the matter one the plod stick their piglet ears in? NOPE!
Murdo - you will find United are at home on that day, so the police are trying to stagger kick offs to suit all clubs and fans.
And try and tell me Leeds haven’t got history with Man Utd?
“Stockport” - at least read the bloody post if you’re going to comment on it.
The “big club attitude” - all in your head son. The article is written because we want to see Leeds play - no matter if it is in League Two against St Albans Reserves or League One against Stockport.
Man Utd??? Where did the article mention them? Oh, in your head again. There’s more to life than Man Utd. The Premier League is predictable and expensive. I enjoyed much of our time in the Championship - the league is much more competitive and last season was just as tense, for me way better than mid-table mediocrity in the PL.
Stop making assumptions and read the article.
The crack at the end about being disinterested etc was not about a big club attitude, nor addressed to all league One clubs. The writer fairly makes the point that if you go to all that trouble to keep him away from the match then “sod you and your club”, you can go to hell. But he will still visit other clubs and spend plenty of money there when they keep the designated time set for the fixture by the football league. What’s wrong with that?
The writer is well aware of the law relating to this area - but supports this site’s stand on the moving of these games because he feels clubs should stand up and question what is being done.
Dave Whelan managed to kick up a fuss over police costs rather than just accept it.
It would be nice to see a L1 chairman say, “the moving of the Kick off is unfair to Leeds fans who spend a lot of money visiting us” we want a rethink. I won’t hold my breath. The action of the Yeovil Town board is absolutely ludicrous.
Final thought, why is it called “police advice” if the club HAS to obey?
